WINEMAKING:
2009 was a warm vintage, excellent for red wines. This wine is an example of why the Wilyabrup sub-region is becoming known for producing excellent shiraz. Only estate-grown fruit was used in the production of this wine. The fruit was crushed and fermented in closed stainless steel tanks. Once fermentation was complete the wine was gently pressed to ensure soft tannins. Malolactic fermentation was initiated and once complete, the wine was matured for twelve months in a selection of quality French oak barrels.
NOSE:
Blueberries, star anise spice, white pepper and a hint of green peppercorns.
PALATE:
The palate shows the typical elegant traits of cool maritime climate shiraz, beautifully balanced with blueberries, pomegranate, spice and a hint of licorice. Chalky tannins and well-judged acidity give it grip and structure.
CELLARING:
Fleshy enough to drink now or lay down for 5-10 years for extra complexity.
