Arato - Superstone 220 grit from Naniwa

This series of sharpening stones from Naniwa have the words "[new ceramics] Fine sharpening taste as natural stone gives" proudly printed on each stone. After much head scratching and rigorous testing we are pretty sure it means they have a similar feel to quarried whetstone.

These stones are made from tightly packed resin bonded grit and have the following advantages:

• No pre soaking required - simply splash some water on the surface and start sharpening
• Faster cutting due the soft nature of the grit
• Longer lasting - about twice as long as regular stones
• Much less mess than "cement" type stones

The Naniwa Superstone series ranges from 220 to 12000 grit and are all made via the same resin bonded process to give a consistent "feel" through the sharpening process

Each stone is 225mm x 68mm x 20mm thick and comes with a sturdy plastic stand and non-slip rubber nibs.
