We are experienced and sensitive to the needs and fears of children relating to dental appointments and treatment, especially their first few visits, which can be a little daunting. Our team love to see and enjoy caring for children and make them comfortable and relaxed during their appointment so they are a fun-filled experience they will look forward to attending.

Caring for your child's teeth is equally important as caring for adult teeth. Although their baby teeth will eventually fall out, it is essential to ensure this does not happen prematurely. Caring for your child's teeth should begin even before the emergence of their first tooth. Wiping their gums with a soft moist cloth after feeding will ensure their gums remain healthy and aid in the development of their baby and adult teeth.

Regular appointments for teens are also important. Although their adult teeth have erupted, their facial bone structure is still developing and by monitoring their teeth and jaw alignment as they continue to grow, any abnormalities can be diagnosed at an early stage and corrected with minimal interference, reducing the need for more extensive corrective procedure later in life.

Caring for your child's teeth and oral health does not mean you shouldn't be vigilant with your own oral health care. Teeth are meant to last for life; gum disease is the main cause of tooth loss in adults and can lead to various other oral and general health problems, however when detected early it is a reversible condition. If teeth are missing, your remaining adjacent and opposing teeth can move out of alignment causing bite and jaw problems, your jawbone that is kept healthy by the presence of a tooth root begins to deteriorate when the root is missing, which can cause facial muscles to lose their strength and elasticity. This may also affect your ability to have a dental implant placed successfully.
