Laser Hair Removal
You may have also heard of IPL as an alternative to laser for hair removal. Australian Skin Clinics has the option of using either, depending on which procedure will give you the best result.
Before we undertake any treatments we ask you to come in for a consultation with one of our trained nurses. We assess your skin and hair type, your suitability for treatment and to ensure you know what to do before the treatment so that you get the best results.
In general lasers hair removal is best suited to the treatment of people with darker skin types. The hair must have a dark pigment (brown or black) as it is less effective on hair that is golden blonde or lighter (IPL is likely to be more suitable in these cases).
At Australian Skin Clinics, only qualified nurses with Queensland laser licences operate the laser under the guidance of Dr Grose.
If you are looking around different clinics when planning your laser hair removal, you should ask the practitioner whether or not their equipment has TGA approval. Always check that your practitioner uses medical grade, TGA approved lasers.
Before any hair removal process, we need to assess your skin and hair type and to establish the most appropriate treatment from the range of technologies we use at our clinic: -

- IPL (lynton lumina IPL hair removal)
At this first consultation we ask that you come in with hair visible (do not shave, wax or use depilatory creams beforehand). We will then assess your hair and skin type and advise the best course of action to take. If we feel that IPL is the best treatment for you we may also do a test patch.
No Laser or IPL hair removal system can claim to be 100 permanent, but with our specialist medical grade equipment, we do get exceptionally good results. A maintenance treatment may be required every 6 months, as some hair will always return, generally though, this is much finer than the original hair.
Typically, with our high tech equipment, clients need an average of only 6 treatments to obtain good and lasting hair removal - compared with and average of 10-12 treatments on some less effective equipment, or even more with low powered home based systems.
