Description

Laser Surgery is a procedure that is an ideal method for removing wrinkles, improving scars and for the rejuvenation of ageing skin, therefore giving a more youthful appearance to the areas treated.

Laser skin rejuvenation can be the answer to wrinkles, blemished and sun damaged skin. Photo-ageing with its associated wrinkles, age-spots and keratoses can be reduced. Acne scarring can be smoothed out and improved. Frown and worry lines on the forehead can be blunted as well. Full-face laser rejuvenation can restore and refresh the entire facial skin and complexion. Some scars over various parts of the body can also be dramatically improved with this form of treatment. Men and women can achieve great success with this rewarding procedure. Smooth skin can make you feel more comfortable with yourself and confident with others.

The best candidates for laser surgery are men and women of all ages who are in good general health and who are realistic in their expectations. Laser Surgery can be performed on patients of all ages depending on their requirements.

Patients with olive skin, brown skin or black skin may be at an increased risk for pigmentation changes following laser surgery and may not be suitable candidates.

Having laser-resurfacing surgery can help enhance your appearance and your self-confidence. Lines that appear on your face with movement such as smiling, blinking, severe squinting or deep frowning are termed dynamic lines. Lines that appear on your skin at rest such as those around the eyes, lips and to some extent the naso-labial fold region are termed static lines. Laser resurfacing will affect the static lines on your face most effectively. It cannot affect the dynamic lines as they are produced by muscle action, however it can make these lines look less severe.

Our team at Queensland Plastic Surgery can suggest ways to preserve your results from laser resurfacing by protecting yourself from sun exposure and continuing with a maintenance programme for you skin following surgery.

Laser Surgery is a relatively quick procedure. It usually takes from ten to sixty minutes depending on the extent of the area to be treated.

Laser Surgery is performed using a beam of laser energy, which vaporises the upper layers of the damaged skin at specific and controlled levels of penetration. The heat of the laser causes the underlying collagen to contract. These effects result in a smoothing out of the skin surface and removal of superficial abnormalities such as keratoses and fine lines. The underlying dermis is actually healthier, causing the new upper level of skin to regrow, leaving behind old wrinkles and blemishes. The process rejuvenates the complexion and restores the skin an appearance of being more youthful.
