Positional Release

Positional release has been developed by American Doctor of Osteopathy Lawrence Jones. It is a treatment that relieve spinal and joint pain by passively repositioning the joint in the direction of movement that has the least resistance and the most comfort. In this position the body's proprioceptive system is allowed to relax and as a result the inappropriate proprioceptive activity is normalized. This also releases guarding muscles and fascial tension allowing natural pain free movement to return. In osteopathic terminology, this therapy is called "strain-counter-strain".
