• Not recommended for use in patients with hypercalcaemia, sarcoidosis and hyperparathyroidism.

• Vitamin D supplements may increase the risk of hypercalcaemia in individuals taking thiazide diuretics.
• Use of lipid-lowering drugs (eg cholestyramine, colestipol) or anticonvulsants may reduce levels of vitamin D in the body. Supplements containing vitamin D may be beneficial.
