Vintage conditions |
A relatively warm vintage with hot conditions just prior to harvest | Colour
Nose Palate |
Clear lemon straw.
A lifted aroma of white peach, citrus, honey dew melon and crème brulee with a hint of cashew and attractive perfumed oak. A complex wine with all the flavour elements you expect with good chardonnay- fruit, yeast & oak. It is full bodied with good flavour intensity displaying peach, lemon butter and grapefruit flavours with slight quince and biscuity notes. The wine combines crisp acidity with a palate that is creamy and long with subtle oak and a long citrusy finish. |

Of all the white varieties, Chardonnay appears to benefit most from barrel fermentation and lees contact. The result can be impressive but the danger is that it is overdone. Without generosity in the grape, these other flavours, in themselves ungenerous, can overwhelm the wine. It is our belief that the best dry wines should carry fruit sweetness through to the after palate. Our Chardonnays exhibit that characteristic.
